Welcome to the Group Web Site Page about the HQ, which is the home to 1st Hampden Park Scout Group & The Eastbourne District Explorer Scout Units. As you can see from the pictures on the HQ pictures page the hall has come a long way since the wooden building was taken down. If you have any photos of the old hall please contact the web site administartor via the contact page so he can arrange to borrow them to scan and then give them back.

The HQ is run by a different committee to the Executive that supports the group, although we tend to hold meeting together. The Chairman of the Hall committee is John Spence who is well known in Hampden Park community.

John can normally be found making sure the HQ is safe and recnetly has been the main person responsable for the make over done by Tesco, although his wife Annette started the ball rolling.

How Could You Help

One of the next projects that needs to be done is one of the security lights needs to be replaced as water seems to have got the better of it, also a big project is to renew the toilet systems inside the hall we do have some funds but obviously the more we can get done for cost price or less the better. URGENT HQ HEATING

During this cold spell of weather we have had in January 2010 we have now had two of the sections had to cancel their meetings due to the heating or lack of it in the hall. At present we have two gas fires but only one is working properly. We did look into changing to electric but this was going to cost a lot of money as the electrics in the hall would need to be upgraded. Do you know of any electricians ( or a company willing to sponsor this work ), who would be willing to do at this for us, for the cost of the parts. If so please contact the Hall Chairman John via the contacts page. This would help in the future and save disappointing the young people when their meetings are cancelled.
